Improving Accessibility for Major Events or Festivals 2025/2026

City of Darwin is calling for expressions of interest (EOIs) to improve and increase accessibility for major events or festivals that take place outdoors in the Darwin municipality.  

You can apply for up to $4000 (excluding GST) for your project. 

Linked to outcomes in City of Darwin’s, Creative Strategy 2024 – 2030 and the Federal Government’s, Equity, The Arts and Disability Associated Plan. 

EOIs from major events or festivals can include: 

  • improvements in online or hybrid forms of access 
  • appropriate physical access arrangements 
  • open and/or closed captioning 
  • Auslan interpretations 
  • sensory maps 
  • visual stories
  • access to quiet or low sensory hours 
  • access to low sensory or decompression spaces
  • hearing loops
  • audio descriptors
  • training for staff or volunteers to support different access needs and engage respectfully with people with disability
  • website upgrades for key access information about: 
    • accessible entrance/s 
    • site plan
    • accessible access and lift/s
    • accessible seating
    • toilets

Completing Your Application

To complete this form, you will need to provide: 

  • Organisation name, address, phone number, email and website
  • Contact person, role, phone number and email address 
  • A current ABN and Public Liability Insurance up to $20 million cover (yours or your auspicing body’s) 
  • Main function of organisation (max 100 words)
  • Project scope and description including approach, deliverables and monitoring (max 250 words)
  • Start and end dates
  • Supporting documentation (identification of need – supported by Board / Committee minutes)
  • Quote/s
  • A letter of agreement from your auspicing body, if you are being auspiced 

 Once you submit: 

Immediately - You will receive a confirmation email. 

2 weeks after submissions close - We will contact you to tell you if you are successful or unsuccessful.  

Applications will automatically close at 6pm (ACST) on Tuesday 3 June 2025. Submissions will not be accepted after this time.
